Our enthusiastic Peninsula Blitz Secretary, has a rich history with basketball. From being a dedicated player to now coaching the under-16 team, Peter’s passion for the game runs deep. He’s watched countless games, cheering on his kids, Ella and James, and now has the joy of coaching James.
A big fan of basketball, Peter loves the discipline, the vibrant club culture, and most importantly, the camaraderie. He treasures seeing people come together, supporting and uplifting each other. Having played with other clubs before, Peter joined Peninsula Blitz in the summer of 2024.
Beyond the court, he enjoys contributing to the club’s vibrant community, connecting with like-minded basketball fans and sharing the club’s spirit. For Peter, it’s more than just about winning; it’s about fostering a caring and inclusive community where everyone feels valued.
Corinna has lived on the Bellarine Peninsula since she was ten years old and knew she wanted to bring her kids up in this wonderful spot.
Corinna has been involved in basketball for over 20 years in an administrative role. Corinna tried her hand at playing many years ago, but she confessed to being “useless on the court.” She thought there must be something she could do to be a part of the basketball community. That’s when she found herself on the committee with Sharks Basketball Club Inc., and it wasn’t long before she became treasurer and stayed on for 15 years.
Corinna’s family of ballers consist of her husband of nearly 20 years Shane and their two sons, Aiden and Rhys, who play for Blitz in our Under 16 teams. All three of them play basketball in many different teams across Geelong and the Bellarine both domestic and representative for Peninsula Blitz, Bellarine Storm and Sharks in Geelong.
During the day, Corinna works for the Gordon, who has proven to be a great community partner for us here at Blitz.
Corinna’s passion for our youth and seeing them happy, healthy and on the court can be seen through everything she does for our club. Her dedication and commitment shine through, she always has a smile and a chat with anyone and everyone.
You will find Corinna at many of the games and trainings, whether her family is playing or not, as she loves this community and enjoys seeing the kids have fun, thrive, learn, and grow.
Taegan came on board in Winter 2024 as a Team Manager when her son joined Blitz U12 Yellow. He also plays for Blitz U14s Yellow & Taegan doesn't miss a game for either team!
She comes to blitz with a strong background in Marketing and Graphic Design, having built her career working for some of Geelong's leading venues. Digital Content Creation is Taegan's bread & butter and she loves showing off the teams skills with reels and videos!
She grew up playing netball but prides herself on learning to shoot a 3 pointer, through the legs dribble and spin the ball on one finger...all to impress her son!
In the world of Peninsula Blitz Basketball Club, there’s a hero whose story transcends the game itself.
At the vibrant age of 80, Iris O’Connor has become much more than a committee member; she’s the very soul of the club. Amidst a time of profound sorrow following the loss of her granddaughter, Cienna Rose, Iris found a beacon of hope and connection within the club, making it her home away from home. Iris’s unwavering support and her ability to bind the community together have not gone unnoticed.
In a heartfelt recognition of her impact, the club has honoured her as the Number 1 Member, a title that speaks volumes of her significance to the team and its supporters. This accolade is a testament to how she’s embraced the club and its members, offering them the same love, support, and resilience she showers on her grandsons.
