PENINSULA Blitz Basketball Club is ran independently by a Volunteer Committee of Management.

To ensure the club runs effectively, we operate with an executive committee. The purpose of the executive committee is to strategically plan, oversee the financial responsibilities of the club, liaise between members, community and the Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association. Also to facilitate committee meetings, develop and manage policy development all while supporting the main goal of the club to provide a safe place for people to play basketball.


The Executive Committee is responsible for the operation and success of the club. To achieve this the Executive Committee adhere to the following;

  • Interpreting and enforcing the club rules
  • Ensuring the club complies with relevant legislation
  • Acting in good faith and in the best interests of the club at all times
  • Acting with a duty of care to ensure that the activities the club conduct are with reasonable care and diligence.

Executive Roles will work with the Department of Education and all roles (incl. coaches require standard police checks and working with children.

COmmittee roles & responsibilities

President - Executive Committee

The President represents the committee to the outside world. They are supported by the executive committee members and advocate on behalf of the club's members. The President is responsible for ensuring the committee fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the club including.

  • Overseeing activities and projects.
  • Chairing all club meetings.
  • Signing documents on behalf of the club.
  • Participating in resolving disputes and grievances.
  • Representing the club at external meetings and events.

Secretary - Executive Committee

  • Ensuring all correspondence and official records of the Association are up to date, accurate and in order.
  •  Attending to correspondence, including completing any actions arising from a meeting that require attention.
  •  Bringing urgent matters to the attention of the Executive Committee.
  • Assisting the President to organise the Committee meetings.
  •  Prepare committee meeting agendas. 
  • Sending out notices for meetings, and ensuring that meeting papers (agenda, correspondence and previous minutes) have been distributed to all relevant parties ensuring accurate and appropriate minutes of all meetings of the club are taken and maintained.
  • Working with the President to ensure the meeting runs smoothly, and information for the Committee and from the Committee is dealt with in an efficient manner.
  • Participating in resolving disputes and grievances.

Treasurer - Executive Committee

As Treasurer, the responsibility is to manage the finances of the club.

 The role involves:

  •  Presenting monthly reports to the committee at meetings.
  •  Approving payments.
  •  Drafting/tracking the budget.
  •  Maintaining all financial records, including receipts, invoices, and statements.
  • Preparing and managing the budget and allocating funds as agreed by the Executive Committee.
  •  Monitoring the income and expenditure of the club.
  • Making payments and bank deposits, and ensuring all payments are approved by the Executive Committee and recorded in the minutes.
  • Keeping Executive Committee members informed of the financial position of the club.
  •  Providing financial and investment advice.
  •  Preparing and presenting financial statements to the Annual General Meeting.
  • Developing budgets for new projects.  
  •  Representing the Club on funding applications. 
  •  Keeping and maintaining an asset register for the Club 
  • Managing the petty cash balance and ensuring the expenditure is kept up to date.
  • Maintaining the square reader and managing accounts linked to the reader
  • Participating in resolving disputes and grievances.

Communications Coordinator

  • Managing and growing the online presence of Peninsula Blitz across social media platforms and website
  • Creating, curating, and scheduling content that aligns with Peninsula Blitz’s code of conduct and values. 
  • Monitor and respond to social media interactions, ensuring timely and consistent engagement with followers.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and updates of the club’s website, ensuring that content is current, accurate, and aligned with the brand voice.
  • Write, edit, and proofread copy for web and social media, ensuring it is on-brand and aligned with the values of the club. 
  • Collaborate with external collaborators and sponsors (if applicable) for specific projects like paid advertising or digital campaigns.

General Committee

  • Promote the club externally always positively. 
  • Attending committee meetings and participating in meetings, club events and fundraisers.
  • The general member will maintain confidentiality regarding members, disputes and financial matters they may be witnessed to hear during committee meetings.
